Maker’s Mark Distillery

Maker’s Mark Distillery, 2 mi. e. on SR 52 to Burks Spring Rd., began operations in 1805. The visitor center is the starting point for 60-minute guided tours. Highlights of the tour include the still house—the oldest part of the complex—where the bourbon is made by hand; the fermenting room, where the sour mash ferments in deep cypress vats; one warehouse, which is more than 100 years old, where the whisky ages; and the bottling house, where each bottle is hand-dipped in the distillery’s signature red wax.
