Riverside, The Farnsley-Moremen Landing is 10 mi. w. on SR 841 (Gene Snyder Frwy.) from jct. I-65 to Lower River Rd., then .1 mi. s. to 7410 Moorman Rd. This 300-acre site on the banks of the Ohio River depicts the importance of agriculture and river transportation in the nation’s development. Two prosperous farm families cultivated the land and traded goods from their landing with people traveling down the river. The restored 1837 two-story red brick “I” house features a Greek Revival portico and is furnished in period with some original pieces. The grounds include a garden, planted with vegetables, herbs and flowers similar to those the Moremen family might have grown; a reconstructed 19th-century detached kitchen; a visitors center; a sheltered pavilion; and a modern boat landing. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Fee $6; $5 (ages 60+); $3 (ages 6-12); $15 (family rate for two adults with up to three children ages 0-17).
Hours: Visitor center Tues.-Sat. 9-5. Guided tours are given Tues.-Sat. 10-4:30, Sun. 1-4:30, Mar.-Nov.; Tues.-Sat. 10-4:30, rest of year. Last tour begins 1 hour before closing. Closed major holidays.
