Whitehall House and Gardens is off I-64 exit 8; take Grinstead Dr. .2 mi. s., then 1.2 mi. e. to 3110 Lexington Rd. Built in 1855, the house was originally a two-story, eight-room brick building. In 1909 the Middleton family remodeled and expanded the building, creating a 15-room Classical Revival mansion reminiscent of an antebellum plantation house. The 10-acre grounds feature a 2-acre formal Florentine garden.
