AAA Inspector Notes
Inspector Pick (Wedding facilities): The elegant staircase from the mezzanine to the lobby, reminds me that Tom and Daisy, characters in The Great Gatsby, were married here.
This restored 1905 hotel is the epitome of ornate, historical elegance. Rooms are beautifully appointed with mahogany furniture and high-thread-count linens but some units are on the small side. Check out the Rathskeller Room in the basement. Appointed with ornate Rookwood tiles, intricately tooled leather decorations and ceramic tile images of storks, the room exudes an almost mystical, brooding Teutonic atmosphere. This hotel is an indescribably beguiling little nook nestled in downtown Louisville. This hotel has one of those old mail drop systems on each floor by the elevator. The really fascinating aspect here is that the system still works just as it did one hundred years ago. Smoke free premises. 321 units, some two bedrooms. 11 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Free shuttle (tipped the driver equivalent of cab fare) to most anywhere you want to go. Valet/shuttle driver was the most knowledgeable person on area attractions, restaurants, etc. Ask for hotel employee!
Cons: No concierge. Front desk staff knew very little about area. Surprised that Bartenders were the least friendly and helpful of any we encountered in town re: bourbon/whiskey selections. Just an ugraded Hilton. I'll stay at the Brown next trip!

Pros: They put us in the back corner of hotel with windows facing a brick wall, toilet having 12 inches from the wall or less. Able to touch both sides of bathroom with extended hands. They forgot to give us the proper swipe card to get out of garage.

Pros: Location was awesome, couldn't have been closer to the "4th Street Live" entertainment district. Complimentary WiFi and bottles of water were a very nice touch
Cons: Bedroom was quite small, only had one queen sized bed
