Richmond Battlefield Park is at 1546 Battlefield Memorial Hwy. Included on the park grounds are the 1824 Pleasant View home and its original slave quarters. Walking trails feature interpretive signs that explain the many events surrounding the Battle of Richmond, during which Maj. Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith's Confederates defeated the Federals led by Maj. Gen. William “Bull” Nelson. In late August, the grounds come alive with Civil War re-enactments.
Note: The 1824 Pleasant View home is closed for renovations; phone ahead to check schedule.
