South Union Shaker Village, 1 mi. s. from jct. US 68/SR 80 to 850 Shaker Museum Rd., following signs, is housed in the 40-room 1824 Centre House and contains items depicting the life of the South Union colony of Shakers. Visitors can see such examples of the sect’s craftsmanship as oval boxes, baskets and trestle tables. Four other restored buildings also can be seen. The architecture reflects standards of order and cleanliness, while other features reflect the Shaker practice of separating the genders.Guided tours are available.
