Mountain HomePlace is 1 mi. w. on SR 40, then n. on Paintsville Lake Rd. (SR 2275) to Paintsville Lake. The working farmstead depicts Appalachian farm life in the mid-19th century and features the McKenzie Cabin, a barn, a one-room school (with a pot-bellied stove), a church, a blacksmith shop, a gristmill, gardens and fields. Costumed interpreters demonstrate period skills and crafts and a museum houses typical tools and clothing.
