Big South Fork Scenic Railway

Big South Fork Scenic Railway, 1 mi. w. of US 27 on SR 92, offers a scenic 16-mile tour along Big South Fork, a branch of the Cumberland River, in enclosed and open-air excursion cars. There is a stopover in Blue Heron, an abandoned coal mine company town that has been restored by the National Park Service. The line originally was used by the Stearns Coal & Lumber Co. to transport logs and coal. The 90-minute Run to the Gorge excursion is offered in November.
