American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is .3 mi. e. of jct. I-64 and US 42/Mellwood Avenue at 1839 Frankfort Ave. Founded in 1858, APH is one of the largest and oldest non-profit organizations designing and manufacturing products for the visually impaired. It has been the main supplier of educational materials for blind or partially sighted students in the United States since 1879. Ninety-minute guided tours feature the Braille production area, the studios where audio books are made, and a visit to an interactive museum that focuses on the international history of education for those who are blind.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
