Louisiana Art & Science Museum is at 100 River Rd. S. Housed in a historic train station, the museum features fine art exhibits; interactive children galleries; and the Ancient Egypt Gallery, which houses a mummy from 300 B.C. Permanent exhibits include contemporary photographs, a Southern art collection, 18th- to 20th-century paintings by American and European artists, and sculptures by Ivan Mestrovic. The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium & ExxonMobil Space Theater is housed here as well.
(includes museum galleries and unlimited planetarium shows) $9; $8 (college students with ID); $7.50 (ages 3-12 and 65+). Admission may increase for special exhibits.
Hours: Tues.-Fri. 10-3, Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-4. Closed Mardi Gras Day and major holidays. Schedule may vary for special exhibits. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
