National Hansen's Disease Museum is at 5445 Point Clair Rd. Carville was the site of a quarantine hospital and treatment center for leprosy (Hansen's Disease) from 1894 to 1999. It is now designated as a historic district and includes the museum, which features exhibits about the history of leprosy in the United States and the patients who lived at the national leprosarium. A self-guiding audio driving tour of the historic district covers nine stops and lasts about 20 to 30 minutes.
