Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge is off I-12 exit 74 then s. to 61389 SR 434. On the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, the 18,000-acre refuge consists of beaches, grass beds, swamps, hardwood hammocks and pine ridges. These varied habitats invite a variety of fowl as well as deer, minks, otters, nutrias and raccoons. Visitors may view exhibits and a wildlife demonstration garden at the visitor center.

Fishing, hiking and hunting are permitted.

Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
