AAA Inspector Notes
This 1857 landmark blends 21st-century conveniences with Old World charm. Lush courtyards offer spots to relax and socialize. Fitness center privileges are available at a nearby hotel. The building was originally built in 1859 as the St. James Hotel. Over the years it has been a commodities exchange, a military hospital during the Civil War and a meeting place for the early plotters of the Texas Revolution. The tiny pool is more suitable for soaking rather than swimming. A light complimentary breakfast can be delivered to your room on request. Smoke free premises. 84 units. 4 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Had a room with a balcony which was a good decision, would be a nice spot to have a meal had I the time. Historic architecture indoors that is visible gives a great cool factor. The room had a vaulted ceiling with exposed roof timbers which made it very spacious and welcoming.
Pros: Clean, welcoming, great value, very upscale and just close enough yet far enough away from the heart of Bourbon street.
Cons: Room service not 24 hours-understandable as there are plenty of choices in the area.

Pros: The complimentary breakfast that was delivered to the room each morning. I liked the aesthetic of the room and the uniqueness of the hotel.
Cons: The air conditioner in the room didn't work well. It rarely got below 75, and it was on the lowest setting. Fortunately there was a fan provided, but fixing the AC or insulation in the rooms would be more desirable.

Pros:
Cons: Hotel under construction. Noisy. Dirty. Disorganized. Charged my parking to someone else's credit card! Will never ever go back to this hotel.
