Granary Burying Ground, at the head of Bromfield St. at jct. Tremont St., was established in 1660. The third-oldest burying ground in the city is frequently mobbed with tourists and school groups thanks to its prime location on the Freedom Trail, steps away from the Boston Common. It also helps that it's the final resting place of some pretty famous historical figures. Interred on the grounds are three signers of the Declaration of Independence—John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Robert Treat Paine—as well as Paul Revere, Peter Faneuil and the five Boston Massacre victims. A 20-foot-tall granite obelisk at the center of the cemetery marks the grave of Benjamin Franklin's parents.
