Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge is 3 mi. s. of US 1, following signs to the refuge headquarters off Charlotte Rd. at 103 Headquarters Rd. This migratory bird haven is divided into two sites: the Baring Unit and the Edmunds Unit. Encompassing 21,000 acres, the Baring Unit contains nature and hiking trails as well as a 4,600-acre wilderness area featuring 160 acres of the state's oldest white pines.

The 8,000-acre Edmunds Unit, at Cobscook Bay State Park, includes a 2,782-acre wilderness area offering nature trails and fishing and snowshoeing opportunities.

Note: Most refuge roads are closed to private vehicles.
