AAA Editor Notes
The Nylander Museum of Natural History, 657 Main St., contains the extensive collections of rocks, minerals, fossils, shells, marine specimens and Native American artifacts of Swedish-born Olof Nylander. A self-taught naturalist, Nylander spent his life amassing and classifying—an effort that gained him an honorary Master of Science degree from the University of Maine.

Other features include an herb garden, wildflowers and mounted regional animals.
