Monhegan Boat Line departs from the Monhegan Boat Landing at 880 Port Clyde Rd. The company operates two 65-foot-long ships, the Laura B and the Elizabeth Ann, which transport passengers and freight between Port Clyde and Monhegan Island. Such wildlife as birds, porpoises and small whales may be spotted during the 70-minute trip on the Laura B and the 55-minute trip on the Elizabeth Ann. On the return trip from Monhegan Island, Seal Rock and its seal families may be seen. Additional sightseeing cruises are offered. Cars may not be taken to Monhegan Island; parking is available at the Port Clyde dock. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Round-trip fare $35; $20 (ages 2-12). One-way fare $24. Puffin/Nature, Lighthouse or Sunset cruise fares $30; $10 (ages 2-12). Reservations are recommended. Parking: $7 per day.
Hours: Trips depart daily at 7, 10:30 and 3, July 1-early Sept.; daily at 10:30 and 3 (also Mon.-Sat. at 7 a.m.), late May-June 30 and early Sept. to mid-Oct.; daily at 10:30, early to late May and mid- to late Oct.; Mon., Wed. and Fri. at 9:30, rest of year.
