Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. and Museum, off I-295 exit 7, .8 mi. s.e. on Franklin St., then .3 mi. e. to 58 Fore St. following signs, is dedicated to preserving Maine's narrow gauge railroad equipment. Highlights of the museum include a two-foot gauge parlor car, coaches, locomotives and railroad artifacts. Thirty-minute train rides on two-foot gauge track run along Casco Bay and the Portland Waterfront. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Museum $3; $2 (ages 3-12 and 62+). Combination museum and train ride $10; $9 (ages 62+); $6 (ages 3-12). Additional fees may be charged for special events.
Hours: Museum Sat.-Thurs. 9:30-4, Fri. 11:30-4, mid-May to late Oct. Trains depart Sat.-Thurs. on the hour 10-3, Fri. on the hour noon-3. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
