Farnsworth Art Museum and the Wyeth Center, 16 Museum St., houses American art, with emphasis on artists with state ties: Winslow Homer; Fitz Henry Lane; John Marin; Louise Nevelson; and Andrew, James and N.C. Wyeth. Works by the Wyeth family are in a former church on Union Street across from the Farnsworth Homestead. Changing exhibits feature important artists, current trends or historical themes.
$15; $13 (ages 65+); $10 (students with ID); free (ages 0-16 and to all first Fri. of the month 5-8, June-Oct.).
Hours: Daily 10-5 (also first Fri. of the month 5-8), June-Oct; Tues.-Sun. 10-5, Apr.-May and Nov.-Dec.; Wed.-Sun. 10-5, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
