Hamilton House is reached via SR 236N off I-95, past jct. SR 91, w. on Brattle St., then s.w. on Vaughan's Ln. The Georgian mansion was built about 1785 by merchant Jonathan Hamilton. He chose the site because of its commanding view of the Salmon Falls River and ideal location for his shipping business. The house reflects the occupancy of the Tyson family in the early 20th century with lovely gardens, painted murals and an interesting collection of decorative arts and antique furnishings. Also featured is a garden cottage. Guided tours are available.
$10; $9 (ages 65+); $5 (ages 6-12).
Hours: Tours are given on the hour Wed.-Sun. 11-5, June 1-Oct. 15. Last tour departs 1 hour before closing.
