Wendell Gilley Museum, Main St. and Herrick Rd., houses more than 200 bird models by the master woodcarver. In addition to the native and foreign species carved by Gilley, the museum offers annual art exhibitions and natural history and art programs. A resident woodcarver demonstrates his skill. Carving workshops are offered throughout the year. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
$5; $2 (ages 5-12).
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, July-Aug.; Tues.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-4, in June and Sept.-Oct.; Fri.-Sun. 10-4 in May and Nov. 1 to mid-Dec. Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
