AAA Editor Notes
Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre is 13 km (8 mi.) e. on Hwy. 67, then 4 km (2.5 mi.) n. on Hwy. 220. This 3,600-hectare (9,000-acre) restored prairie wetland is home to more than 300 species of birds, 25 species of mammals and various plant and animal species. Hundreds of thousands of migrating birds and waterfowl can be seen in the spring and fall.

The area is a remnant of the historic St. Andrews Bog that once covered much of southern Manitoba's Interlake area. Hikers can explore 30 kilometres (19 mi.) of trails over a system of boardwalks and dikes. The interpretive center has displays, films and interpretive programs.

The center was designed to educate visitors about the important role wetland environments play in the Earth's ecology. There are daily marsh canoe excursions spring through fall and year-round guided walks.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
