Assiniboine Park Zoo, in Assiniboine Park, has more than 1,500 animals representing some 200 different species in naturalistic settings. The zoo specializes in animals found in cooler climates from around the world as well as native North American species. Siberian tigers, snow leopards, two Asian lions, Stellar sea eagles, lynxes, bison, and many other hardy species can be seen outside throughout the year. The Journey to Churchill exhibit features polar bears and other northern species. Large indoor facilities provide warm-weather viewing of many tropical animals. A butterfly garden is open in the summer months. A 360-degree theater also is on site.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
