Living Prairie Museum is at 2795 Ness Ave. This 13-hectare (32-acre) unplowed tract supports more than 160 native plant species and is a remnant of the prairie that once covered much of North America. An interpretive center features displays of plants and animals of the tall grass prairie. Nature talks and guided hikes are offered, and a self-guiding trail brochure is available. The annual Butterfly Festival is held in mid-July and includes workshops, family-friendly crafts, a butterfly release and free milkweed.
