Musée de la Pagerie is near Pointe-du-Bout. Empress Josephine was born here in 1763, the daughter of Joseph Tascher de la Pagerie, a French planter. A museum in the old kitchen quarters of the family home contains mementos of the Empress and of the Napoleonic period. A few of Napoleon's love letters are displayed. A tropical garden is on the grounds of the sugar plantation.
