Piscataway Park, 4 mi. w. of jct. SRs 373 and 210 at 3400 Bryan Point Rd., is affiliated with the National Park System and includes the National Colonial Farm with exhibits pertaining to historic agriculture in Maryland. The farm is a living-history museum that presents a glimpse at the life of a typical tobacco-planting family in Prince George's County. On-site are a tobacco barn and a farmhouse, both of which are 18th-century structures, as well as a smokehouse, an out-kitchen, heritage breed animals and heirloom crops. The park also features the Ecosystem Farm, an organic, sustainable vegetable farm. Hiking trails, two wetlands boardwalks, a fishing pier, a boat dock and a canoe launch are available. A farm market is held Saturdays. Special events are offered. Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Free. Fee may be charged during special events.
Hours: Park open daily dawn-dusk. Visitor center open Tues.-Sun. 10-4, Mar.-Dec.; Sat.-Sun. 10-4, rest of year. Exhibit farm areas open Tues.-Sun. 10-4, mid-Mar. to early Dec. Farm market Sat. 10-2, mid-Mar. to early Dec. Phone ahead to confirm holiday schedule.
