Historic Annapolis Museum is at 99 Main St. at the city dock. This three-story building features four rooms of temporary exhibits, including Freedom Bound: Runaways of the Chesapeake (on display through 2016), a story of servitude and slavery. Videos and artifacts are offered. At nearby Hogshead (1 block away at 43 Pinkney St.), interpreters dressed in period costume provide information about Colonial life. Allow 45 minutes minimum for museum.

Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-5 (also Fri.-Sat. 5-8), Sun. 11-5, May-Dec.; Mon.-Sat. 10-5 (also Fri.-Sat. 5-6), Sun. 11-5, rest of year. Hogshead open Sat.-Sun. noon-4, in summer and early fall. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
