B&O Railroad Museum Ellicott City Station, 2711 Maryland Ave. at Main St., is the restored first terminus of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and was the destination of America's first steam engine, the “Tom Thumb,” in August 1830. Display areas include the freight agent’s quarters, a waiting room, a ticket office and a freight house, which offers a model railroad display of the first 13 miles of the line and a restored 1927 caboose. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$8; $7 (ages 60+); $6 (ages 2-12). A combination ticket with Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum and Mount Clare Museum House is available.
Hours: Wed.-Sun. 11-4. Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
