National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, off US 15 S. Seton Ave. exit, then .6 mi. n.e. to 16825 S. Seton Ave., is on the campus of the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy and Emergency Management Institute. The 7-foot high stone monument to firefighters is topped by a bronze Maltese Cross sculpture. An eternal flame at the base of the monument symbolizes the spirit of firefighters. Plaques surrounding the monument list the names of firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1981. A memorial chapel, a 9/11 sculpture and a brick Walk of Honor are on the grounds.
Note: Ages 16+ must present a photo ID for admission to the campus.
