Pry House Field Hospital Museum, 18906 Shepherdstown Pike (SR 34) in Keedysville and affiliated with Frederick's National Museum of Civil War Medicine, chronicles the house's use as a medical facility and headquarters for the Army of the Potomac during the Battle of Antietam. President Lincoln visited the house a few weeks after the battle in 1862. Exhibits include a re-created operating theater and the battle evacuation plan developed by Dr. Jonathan Letterman, which is still in use today. An amputation kit, a doctor's medical bag and a small household medicine chest are among the several dozen artifacts displayed. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Hours: Fri.-Sun. 11-5 and by appointment, June-Oct.; Sat.-Sun. 11-5 in May and Nov. 1-first weekend in Dec. Closed Thanksgiving.
