Washington Temple and Visitor Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is off I-495 exit 33, just n. on Connecticut Ave., 1 mi. e. on Beach Dr., then .3 mi. n. to 9900 Stoneybrook Dr. The visitor center on the grounds of the white marble temple features a copy of Bertel Thorvaldsen's eight-foot statue “Christus,” and offers a variety of multimedia presentations and films about the temple which is closed to the public. A 3-D model offers a view of the temple's interior.
December holiday events include decorated trees, 650,000 outdoor lights, musical performances and a large international crèche exhibit inside the visitor center.
