Cove Point Lighthouse is 3.3 mi. e. off SR 2/4 on SR 497 to the end of Cove Point Rd. This 1828 lighthouse is Maryland's oldest continuously operating lighthouse and still operates today. Visitors can walk in the lighthouse base and look up the spiral staircase. A display chronicles the site's history, and a 10-minute video about the history of the lighthouse plays in the visitor center. An observation platform contains a telescope for viewing the bay and the Calvert Cliffs.
