Washington Monument State Park, 147 acres at 6620 Zittlestown Rd., is along the Appalachian Trail. The restored 34-foot stone monument and observation tower, erected in 1827, commemorates George Washington. Visitors can go inside the tower and climb to the top. A museum contains Civil War artifacts and exhibits about the history of the monument.
Pets on leash are allowed. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
