Ladew Topiary Gardens is at 3535 Jarrettsville Pike. Harvey S. Ladew (1887-1976), artist and foxhunting devotee, designed and developed these 22 acres of gardens. More than 100 larger-than-life topiary forms and 15 themed garden rooms including the yellow, iris and rose gardens can be seen. Visitors on a guided tour can explore Ladew's circa 1747 manor house, which contains his collections of fine art and English antiques as well as his foxhunting and equestrian memorabilia. A 1.5-mile nature walk includes educational stations and a boardwalk through wetlands. A seasonal butterfly house explores the natural history and life cycle of butterflies. A summer concert series is offered.
