Mead Art Museum, on the Amherst College campus at SRs 9 and 116, offers changing displays of artifacts, paintings and sculpture from the 17th through the 20th centuries. The collection comprises 16,000 works by such artists as John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer, Frederic Remington, John Singer Sargent, Andy Warhol and Andrew Wyeth. Highlights include early American portraits, Hudson River School landscapes and American Impressionist paintings. Handicapped parking is available on Amherst College's main quadrangle; however, no other on-campus parking is available Mon.-Fri. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Tues.-Sun. 9-5 (also Tues.-Thurs. and Sun. 5-midnight, when school is in session). Closed major holidays.
