Pros: Opportunity to drink and eat inside or outside either undercover or around the fire pit was lovely. Ate both breakfast and dinner and all of the food we had was very nice. Nice ambience in the bar/dining room and in the public areas especially when we asked for the fire (gas, coal effect) to be lit in the library to give a cosy glow. Onsite parking to the side and rear of the hotel a bonus. Amherst is a nice little place to wander around with several bars/restaurants to eat in as an option to the hotel and several nice little shops to explore. (Also some museums which we didn't explore). From Amherst it's a pleasant drive to tour around some of the area visiting sights such as Old Deerfield, Montague Book Mill etc.
Cons: The rooms are nice but fairly plain - an injection or two of colour wouldn't go wrong. Also on the top floor, some rooms have the bed situated very close to a sloping ceiling so at danger of hitting your head on rising - suggest check when booking if that would be a problem for you.

Pros: I love this property - they have done a beautiful job with the renovation. It has truly kept its historical charm and mixed it with modern elegance. I admire the commitment to being sustainable and energy efficient. We also LOVED that we had HBO available and didn't have to miss Game of Thrones, despite not being home. We were able to enjoy the amazing porch and outdoor fireplace with a nice cocktail while recapping this week's GOT episode.
Cons: More vegetarian & vegan friendly options in your restaurant, both for dinner and for breakfast please! It would seemingly align with Lord Jeff's 'values' and environmentally friendly model. I also think it would be great to put that amazing roof deck to good use in the nice weather with a morning yoga class for visitors (wishful thinking?).
