Boxwood hedges, mature trees and manicured lawns lend a gracious ambiance to this mid-1700s inn's two-acre grounds. Individually decorated rooms feature antiques, tea makers and robes. All but one of the units have working fireplaces. The four suites are quite large and feature two-person Jacuzzi tubs. Guests especially enjoy the luxury bedding and DVD players in the rooms. Beach towels, chairs and umbrellas are also provided. In summer, breakfast is served on the outdoor patio overlooking the backyard gardens. History buffs should request a room with a hidden escape route behind built-in shelving that was once used by British soldiers and most likely part of the Underground Railroad. The owners are happy to give a tour and share their knowledge of this unique historical feature. Complimentary bottled water and cordials are provided.

Pros: We were a party of 4 who arrived without a car. We thought the bus service took us into Barnstable rather than just to a park and ride. Unlike the UK there was no small shuttle bus to take us right into the small town. We thought we could bus from place to place. Our hosts very kindly helped us to get around, including taking and fetching us where necessary. We cannot express our gratitude too much. They were fantastic . The bonus was the brandy, port and sherry to which we could help ourselves!!
Pros: Vince and Pat made us feel right at home. The house was amazing with tremendous character, rich history and tasteful decorations. Looking forward to our next visit.
Cons: The only bad thing was we had to cut our visit short due to a massive blizzard that was moving in.
family with young children
Pros: OUR SUITE OF ROOMS. FIREPLACE AND RECLINERS.HAVING A GLASS OF PORT IN OUR ROOM WITH A NICE FIRE.
Cons: NOT KNOWING WHAT WOULD BE FOR BREAKFAST SO WE COULD CHOOSE TO GO OR NOT GO.
Pros: Hosts, Pat and Vince, could not be more helpful and welcoming. Good recommendations for local visits/attractions and amenities including the best location to view the sunset. Ideal spot from which to explore Cape Cod and its islands. Beautiful, clean and comfortable room with thoughtful decoration and good-sized ensuite which included a jacuzzi. The public rooms are spacious and clubby and have a great feel. Vince's breakfasts are culinary masterpieces.
