Historic. This restaurant, located opposite the courthouse, has been a tavern since the late 1700s. New England fare with an emphasis on fresh local seafood and fish is served in dining rooms accented with pictures of old Barnstable and surrounding areas. Fried scallops, clams, calamari and sole are popular choices as are the burgers and Italian specialties. The shady outdoor patio is filled with umbrella topped tables and an excellent view of the historic downtown. Evening entertainment is seasonal.
