AAA Editor Notes
Dorchester Heights, just s. of jct. E. Broadway and G St. at Thomas Park in South Boston, is part of Boston National Historical Park. By fortifying these heights, George Washington drove the British from Boston on March 17, 1776. The Soldiers' Monument, a Georgian Revival tower made of white marble, commemorates the 1776 victory.
