Michele Topor's Boston Food Tours departs from jct. Salem and Cross sts. Local guides well acquainted with the culinary arts lead visitors through two of the city's ethnic neighborhoods: the North End and Chinatown. A salumeria (delicatessen) and pasticcerias (pastry shops) are just some of the stops on the 3-hour North End walking tour. In addition to tastings, the tour of Boston's “Little Italy” offers tips on purchasing, cooking and storing Italian ingredients as well as commentary on the old-world neighborhood. Packed with cultural and historical insights, the 2.5-hour Chinatown tour includes visits to a Chinese bakery and a traditional herbal pharmacy and ends with a dim sum lunch.
