The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston is on the waterfront at 100 Northern Ave. The institute was founded in 1936 as one of the country's first galleries dedicated solely to contemporary art. Housed in a steel-and-glass building overlooking Boston Harbor, it offers innovative national and international art exhibits, performing arts presentations, films, lectures and new media. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$15; $13 (ages 60+); $10 (college students with ID); free (ages 0-17 and to all Thurs. 5-9 p.m.).
Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-5 (also Thurs.-Fri. 5-9). Closed Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
