William Hickling Prescott House is at 55 Beacon St. Built in 1808 by architect Asher Benjamin, the Federal-style town house was home to historian William Hickling Prescott 1845-59. Exhibits include Prescott's restored study; an extensive array of costumes from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries; antique furniture; Chinese export porcelain; and English ceramics.

Guided tours are available.
