AAA Editor Notes
Emerson House, 28 Cambridge Tpke., was the home of author, lecturer, philosopher and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson from 1835 until his death in 1882. During these decades here he raised his family, met with progressive leaders and fellow writers like Margaret Fuller and Henry David Thoreau, and wrote many of his works that were so important to the Transcendentalism movement.

On the 40-minute house tour, which includes all rooms on both floors, you'll see original furnishings and Emerson memorabilia. The items in his study are original to the home. You can peruse the garden on your own after the house tour as well as access Walden Pond State Reservation via the 1.7-mile Emerson-Thoreau Amble.

Note: The museum is temporarily closed; phone ahead to confirm schedule. Inquire about accessibility and restrictions.

Guided tours are available.
