Battleship Cove, off I-195 exit 5 on Mt. Hope Bay, is the state's official veterans memorial for World War II and the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars as well as a memorial for the victims of Sept. 11. The site harbors an impressive collection of historic 20th-century naval ships as well as several exhibition spaces, including the National Destroyermen’s Museum, the D-Day Room and the Women Protecting Us exhibit. The Hiddensee, a Soviet-built missile corvette, can be explored. A Bell Huey helicopter that served in Vietnam also is displayed. The Pearl Harbor Experience, an outdoor multimedia show featuring 4-D sound and special water effects, is offered May through September. Food is available.

Hours: Daily 9-5, mid-Apr. to mid-Oct.; 9-4:30, rest of year. Pearl Harbor Experience is offered daily at 11 and 3, May-Aug.; Sat.-Sun. at 11 and 3, in Sept. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
