AAA Inspector Notes
Located on the docks of the wharf, these unique one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages are steps from the heart of downtown and offer amazing waterfront views of the busy harbor. If you have a boat you can even arrange to have it docked outside your room. Most cottages are two levels and stand alone or are part of a duplex. Units all feature modern kitchens, fine cotton bed linens and outdoor patio or decks. Did not meet all AAA rating requirements for locking devices in some guest rooms at time of last evaluation on 06/30/2015. Facilities, services, and décor characterize a mid-scale property.

Pros: Krueig coffee pot AND coffee pods. Location was great!
Cons: Furnishings were very dated and in poor condition in our cottage. Not representative of photos on website. Rooms were very tiny.

Pros: Outside space on the balcony of Upper Mermansion. The friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Being met at the ferry terminal and taken along with our luggage to check in and then to our cottage. The location was perfect with everything within walking distance.
Cons: The shower was not great, not very powerful and contained by a shower curtain. There was no kettle to make tea only a very good coffee machine, but unfortunately we are not coffee drinkers. It was noisy at times as the yacht crews worked on the boats and at times partied.

Cons: The online photos for our room looked like the accommodations would have a deck overlooking the water. Instead, it appeared to be a space built for little people. We were 3 adults that felt like we were on top of each other with absolutely no privacy. A louver door for the restroom (at close to $1,000/night)...just fabulous! :( No room for luggage. Travel lightly.

Pros: Location was great, nice to have a patio. Sleeper sofa was comfortable.
Cons: Felt cramped and had to move furniture around in order to open sleeper and still have a path to the bathroom.

Pros: We loved the area the cottages and lofts were in. Had a great time shopping and eating!! Amenitites were nice in cottage. 4 nights = $4,000 + for lodging is quite steep considering no pool, resort amenities etc. However I understand the convenience of location.
Cons: The Essex(loft) should really be just taken out of the scheme of the cottages/lofts. There are ferry's right next to the Essex every hour on the hour and the last night we were there, there was a fishing charter there through the night!!! I can appreciate 20 guys going on a fishing charter and having a great!!! time!!!! (very loud!!! , drinking, swearing etc) which as I said I do not have a problem with whatsoever but when it is literally right outside our bedroom window at 2 ,3 a.m.( we could open the window and basically shake their hand if we wanted to) then I DO have a problem with it. (when spending $1,000 a night!!!!). Also, I think there should be an umbrella on the outside patio so you could sit out there and enjoy people watching.
