Chatham Marconi Maritime Center, 847 Orleans Rd. (SR 28), preserves the wireless station built in 1914 by Guglielmo Marconi, the “father of wireless radio.” Interactive exhibits and multimedia displays chronicle Marconi's life as well as the history of the “world's greatest coastal station” for ship-to-shore communication, Chatham Radio WCC. Orientation films, including “The Titanic, Matt Tierney and Marconi's Marvelous Invention,” and “Chatham Radio WCC: the Untold Story,” narrated by Walter Cronkite, are shown regularly.
Guided tours are available.
