Harvard Forest, 324 N. Main St., is a department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Harvard University. This 3,750-acre site comprises research facilities; interpretive trails; and the Fisher Museum, which features 23 dioramas depicting important moments in the history and conservation of central New England forests. Hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and horseback riding are permitted on most roads and trails. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted.

Hours: Trails daily dawn-dusk. Museum Mon.-Fri. 9-4, Sat.-Sun. noon-4, May-Oct.; Mon.-Fri. 9-4, rest of year. Closed all Harvard University holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
