AAA Editor Notes
Arrowhead, 780 Holmes Rd., was the 13-year residence of author Herman Melville. In 1851 Melville completed “Moby Dick” here. Original inscriptions from the story “I and My Chimney” are on the fireplace. The house is furnished with 19th-century items, many belonging to the Melvilles. The site also hosts seasonal exhibitions and special events.

Guided tours are available.

$15; $13 (senior citizens); $10 (students with ID); $8 (ages 6-17).
House daily 9:30-5, Memorial Day-Columbus Day; by appointment rest of year. Tours are given daily on the hour 10-4, Memorial Day-Columbus Day; Sat.-Sun. at 11:15, day after Columbus Day-early Dec. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
