Arrowhead, 780 Holmes Rd., was the 13-year residence of author Herman Melville. In 1851 Melville completed &#8220;Moby Dick&#8221; here. Original inscriptions from the story &#8220;I and My Chimney&#8221; are on the fireplace. The house is furnished with 19th-century items, many belonging to the Melvilles. The site also hosts seasonal exhibitions and special events.</br>Guided tours are available.</br>

Hours: House daily 9:30-5, Memorial Day-Columbus Day; by appointment rest of year. Tours are given daily on the hour 10-4, Memorial Day-Columbus Day; Sat.-Sun. at 11:15, day after Columbus Day-early Dec. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
