Mass Audubon's Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is .5 mi. e. of US 1 on SR 97, then s. to 87 Perkins Row. This is the largest of the Massachusetts Audubon Society's sanctuaries, covering 2,267 acres of forests, meadows and wetlands. More than 10 miles of marked trails cross the sanctuary. A backyard bird habitat and a butterfly garden are featured. Pets are not permitted.

Hours: Trails Tues.-Sun. and Mon. holidays dawn-dusk. Visitor center Tues.-Fri. 9-4, Sat.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 9-5, May-Oct.; Tues.-Sun. and Mon. holidays 9-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
