AAA Editor Notes
Felipe Santiago Gutiérrez Museum is downtown at Calle Nicolas Bravo #303, at the corner of Av. Lerdo de Tejada. It features works by the 19th-century portrait painter who taught figure drawing to José María Velasco. Gutiérrez was one of the first Mexican artists who rendered his subjects' Indian lineage, making no attempt to give them European features.
Guided tours are available.
